Living Large and BOLD

The purpose of this blog is to highlight people who are doing things on their own terms, regardless of what the rest of the world might do, say or think. The name is BOLD Business TV, but sometimes “business” is itself a misnomer. Here you might meet someone sharing their business of living, their business of making a living, their business of changing the world, or their business of just being.  To more aptly reflect our focus on the BOLD Person rather than the “business” itself, I’m considering changing the name and URL to BOLD People TV. No official change has been made, yet, and I’ll be interested in your thoughts.

I’d also like your ideas on a person or people who fit the bill. It doesn’t have to be anyone famous, rich, funny or loud; just BOLD. Let me know who you think is living large and marching to their own drummer. Who do you know that is making the most of their individuality and would be an inspiration to the rest of us?

Jonathan Edwards

This segment of BOLDBusiness.tv is a special one. Many of us don’t connect great music with “business”. But believe me – it is business; and one not for the faint-of-heart.

Jonathan Edwards has followed his heart and stayed true to his passion since beginning his career as a singer/songwriter 40+ years ago. He first picked up the guitar at 15 years old – had is first hit, Sunshine, in 1971 and has stayed true to his words – “I promise you I’ll still be singing.” Jonathan Edwards Band

And singing he is – his way. Please meet my friend, Jonathan Edwards.

March 26, 2010

Joe Duley and his wife Charly moved to Portland, ME by way of Baltimore, Washington, DC, London, Brooklyn… well you get the idea. They’ve lived and travelled all over. Why Portland? The reason most professionals move to Portland; the ability to create your life on your terms. I met Joe and Charly shortly after they [...]

Day Late and a Dollar Short

March 23, 2010

That’s a phrase my Mom always used – “You’re a day late and a dollar short.” Not exactly positive thinking, but almost applicable here. My friend Joe Duley’s interview was to be posted yesterday and it would have been were I not camping in Ft. Davis. TX – where there is no – zero – [...]

Live from Texas …and my iPhone

March 10, 2010

Here we go. 2:00 – 2:15 EST from Texas. Meet my Mom, Dad, their dog Beethoven and whoever else wanders into the house. Not that this is very exciting, in and of itself, but I’ll be giving live streaming a practice run from Dallas before heading to Austin and my interviews there. Hopefully the technology [...]

BBTV Episode 5: Matthew McDonald – The Brand New TV Show

March 8, 2010

It’s not about the great ideas and plans you have that make you BOLD; it’s what you do with them. When’s the last time you thought of doing something but then ‘realized’: “It’s too expensive. “I wouldn’t know where to start.” “I could never find the time.” Not Matt McDonald. His day job (his REAL [...]

Big BOLD Road Trip – The day after the storm before. Minus 2 days and counting.

February 26, 2010

Wind gusts up to 65 mph, rain, rain RAIN – Such was the fun leading up to today’s chores getting ready for the trip. Fortunately the littlest Pablo couldn’t be bothered and Q Street Diner had power and pancakes.

The Big BOLD Road Trip – Getting Road Worthy; Part deux

February 25, 2010

I’m getting better at editing, but the subject matter is depressing. $800-$900 to repair a 2000 Saab exhaust system. It seems the car should be able to  make the trip so I think I’ll go for it. If I have to, looking at cars in Texas versus Maine may be in my future. Toyota Carollas [...]

The Big BOLD Road Trip – SxSW or bust! Getting Road Worthy

February 24, 2010
Thumbnail image for The Big BOLD Road Trip – SxSW or bust! Getting Road Worthy

This post is not about an exercise of a mechanical nature, but one of a technological, iMovie-editing nature. Here’s my first video blog post after 5 hours, 4 Valentine chocolates and a subscription to Lynda.com. Other than being exhausted and near blind, I had a GREAT time! Seriously; it’s was a real creative learning experience. [...]

February 22, 2010

How many times have you seen or heard something – a story, a movie, a million dollar idea that changes the landscape – and thought “I could have done that.”? We all have. Very few of us, however, actually do it. Driving up and down I295 my friend Jean Maginnis – as well as thousands [...]
